Happy Friday - Sneaky little week of sports news this week so let’s get into it.
MLB
Not MLB related, but worth asking anyway….Is this the coolest man on the planet?
Zach Wagner from the Arizona Miracle league, came to bat with the game on the line, called his shot than hits the walk off. What legends are made of.

It’s no wonder that Tampa didn’t advance after drawing an abysmal crowd attendance — I guess Tampa is strictly a hockey town now
The Rays drew the lowest attendance of any postseason baseball game for Tuesday’s Wild Card game since the 1919 World Series (Black Sox scandal).
There were just 19,704 people at The Trop.
Pretty embarrassing, even for a 3pm local start time.

Cheeky little move by Craig Kimbrel here to commit an intentional balk in the last inning of the Phillies win. The intentional balk is a rarely seen move, but Kimbrel didn't want the man on second base to steal pitch signs — that’s true baseball strategy baby!
Kimbrel with the intentional balk?

GOLF
Pro female golfer, Lexi Thompson, will be the 7th woman to play in a PGA TOUR event. Will she make the cut?
Lexi Thompson will play in the Shriners Children’s Open on a sponsor’s invite next week. She’ll be the 7th woman to play in a PGA Tour event. Only one has made the cut, Babe Zaharias in 1945.
Lexi is currently No. 25 in Rolex women’s world rankings.

The hospitality tent at Marco Simone, the course that just hosted the Ryder Cup, goes up in flames. Honestly, this is probably the easiest way to take down the grand stands after an event. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
🚨JUST IN: Marco Simone’s hospitality structure from the Ryder Cup has gone up in flames. Hoping for no injuries 🙏🏼

NBA
The new majority ownership of the Charlotte Hornets is making their first big move, partnering with YouTuber, Mr. Beast. Beast is a North Carolina native and upon further investigation by yours truly, he is said to have the most total following of anyone in the world across all social media platforms. Mr. Beast’s branded logo patch will be on all jerseys and even included in NBA 2k and general public jersey sales. It marks the first collaboration between a creator-led brand and professional team.
The Charlotte Hornets are launching a jersey patch partnership with YouTube and social media sensation Mr. Beast, a first between an influencer and an NBA franchise

The NBA is fighting for clicks apparently. Luckily, Jimmy Butler is probably the only guy that can do this and it’s okay.
