MNML Newsletter Friday June 9

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. You guessed it, I’m talking about the PGA Tour-LIV Golf merger. Almost unbelievable news out of the professional golf world, NHL and NBA finals recap. There’s a lot to cover (minimally) so let’s get into it.

This week’s recap:

NBA FINALS

  • Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat: Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets dismantle the Heat in Game 3 109-94 and take a 2-1 series lead. The Joker records the first ever 30+point, 20+ point triple-double in Finals history. Nothing new here, the Nuggets are looking to steal another win in Miami before heading back home to close the series | Game 4 tonight @ 8:30pm ET on ABC

NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS

  • Vegas Golden Knights vs. Florida Panthers - Game 2: Animal abuse! Vegas is just out here whomping the meow meows on live television. Vegas’s Alec Martinez notches 2 goals and even though one was in his own goal, that wasn’t enough help and the Knights went up 4-0 early and sealed the game easily.

  • Vegas Golden Knights vs. Florida Panthers - Game 3: Vegas seemed to be in control early and began OT on a power play but couldn’t convert and the Panthers take a 3-2 victory in overtime and get a game in this series. Vegas leads the series 2-1 | Game 4 on Saturday @ 8pm ET on TNT

MLB

  • The MLB has now postponed 3 games due to poor air quality from the Canadian wildfires. Some games to catch below and picks for all you gamblers out there.

GOLF

  • PGA Tour - RBC Canadian Open: Some of the big names sat this one out but with US Open winner, Matthew Fitzpatrick and veteran, Justin Rose, in the top 14, there’s still some great golf to be watched despite the controversial news | Saturday & Sunday on Golf Channel at 1:30pm and CBS for the later round coverage

  • The PGA Tour and LIV Golf merger: There is so much going on here it’s difficult keep up with. The brief of it is, the PGA Tour and LIV Golf have come to an explosive decision to merge after a bitter rivalry since the birth of LIV about 1 year ago. The PGA Tour initially took a stance and condemned the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league and shunned players that left the Tour to sign with LIV. Now that they are one, I’m not sure if anyone knows how it will work going forward.

OTHER NEWS & THINGS TO WATCH

  • UFC 289: Main - Amanda Nunes vs. Irene Aldana (Title Fight), Co-Main Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush. Catch the prelims at 7pm with the main events starting at 10pm | ESPN+ Pay-per-View

  • French Open: Women’s Final - 1. Iga Swiatek vs. Karolina Muchova on Saturday @ 9am ET. Men’s Semi-Finals on this morning starting @ 8:45am ET and the Final on Sunday @ 9am ET | NBC Sports

  • Belmont Stakes: Third and final leg of the Triple Crown | Saturday at 7:02pm ET on FOX

  • The best soccer player in the world Lionel Messi is state-side and joins the MLS for Inter Miami. Messi, unlike the PGA Tour, reportedly turns down an incredible $1.6 billion from the Saudi-backed Al-Hilal to come to the US. Yes, thats billion with a B.

Send this to your friends, jeez!
