MNML Sports Newsletter June 2
Happy Friday of this short week. With the NHL and NBA Finals just getting started, there’s still a lot of sports to be watched (or read here) before the dog days of summer. Let’s get into it.
This week’s recap:
NBA Finals
Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat: It’s got to be the altitude, right? I hate when analysts are right but the Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets look to be in complete control after notching a 104-93 win in Game 1. Nikola Jokic records a triple-double in his first NBA Finals appearance as the Nuggets stay undefeated at home in the playoffs I Game 2 Sunday @ 8pm ET on ABC

NHL Stanley Cup Finals
Florida Panthers vs. Vegas Golden Knights: At least the people of South Florida still have the meow meows to root for. The puck is set to drop in Vegas for game 1 tomorrow. Vegas has been a steady wagon through the year while Florida started slow this season but has gotten hot late and obliterated everyone in their path so far. I’m just glad the NHL finally decided to schedule around the NBA Finals for once | Game 1 Saturday @ 8pm ET on TNT
MLB
This is still the Tampa Bay Rays year but the Texas Rangers are making their case for best baseball to watch and cutest stat line. The Rangers are on pace to have a record season for number of runs scored. Adolis Garcia has a league-leading 49 RBI’s already this season.
GOLF
PGA Tour - Memorial Tournament: Round 1 in the books at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, OH. Jack Nicklaus’s place is dry and quick, but at least they're paying well - $20 million purse to be exact. Davis Riley, the world’s 74th ranked player is in the lead with Lowry, Speech and Rahm lurking | Friday 2-6pm ET, Saturday/Sunday 12:30-2:30pm ET on Golf Channel, Saturday/Sunday 2:30-6pm on CBS
