MNML Sport Newsletter June 16
Happy Friday. First Djokovic winning the French Open and now Jokic dominating the NBA Finals — Serbia may have the best athletes on the planet. With the NBA and NHL seasons complete, we have to shift our focus to other sports so bear with me. Keep an eye on this weekend’s events — I’ll make sure there’s a recap in Tuesday’s newsletter.
This week’s recap:
NBA FINALS
Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat: The Heat are dead and the Denver Nuggets are NBA Champions for the time in team history. Just a dominant performance throughout the series, no other way to say it.
NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS
Vegas Golden Knight vs. Florida Panthers: The meows meows are dead and Vegas Golden Knights are NHL Stanley Cup Champions for the first time in team history. Similar dominant performance here as the Nuggets in the NBA Finals. You could tell from the start of the series that Vegas was the more physical and athletic team.
NFL
Ray Lewis’ son, Ray Lewis III, has passed away at the age of 28. The cause of his death is unknown.
Send a prayer up for Ray Lewis and his family after the passing of his son. Ray Lewis III was only 28 years old.

MLB
Wednesday was a flat out brutal day for Oakland A’s fans. Over the past few months, the team has been on the hunt for a new location and landed on Las Vegas. On the same day as the reverse boycott, Nevada’s Senate passed a $380 million dollar bill to help build the team a stadium in Vegas with the assistance of taxpayer dollars. This brings the team one step closer to officially moving to the Sin City. Vegas stays winning I guess.
Fans of the Oakland A's have scheduled a reverse boycott for tomorrow's game.
They will pack Oakland Coliseum to show that fans are not the problem.
And they have already raised $30,000, with plans to hand out 7,000 shirts in the parking lot that say "Sell."
This will be fun.

GOLF
US Open: The season’s 3rd major in underway and already full of surprises. Many people seemed to be under the impression the course was going to playing at its most difficult given the fast greens and thick rough. Alternatively, many players scored very low; Rickey Fowler and Xander Schauffele notched the lowest score in US Open history, 62. We’ll see how the greens keepers respond for the rest of the weekend
Today: (Peacock) 9:40am - 1pm, (USA Network) 1pm - 8pm, (NBC) 8pm - 11pm ET
Saturday: (NBC) 1pm - 11pm ET
Sunday: (Peacock) 12pm - 1pm, (NBC) 1pm - 10pm
