MNML Sports Newsletter May 26

Well, 2 series sweeps completed in the playoffs this week and LeBron goes bye bye and Canes can’t rally. Let’s get into it and get you to the Holiday weekend as quickly as possible.

This week’s updates:

NBA PLAYOFFS

  • Denver Nuggets vs. LA Lakers: Nikola Jokic continues to be amazing and the Denver Nuggets complete the sweep of the Lakers and advance to the NBA Finals for the first time in team history.

  • Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat: The Celtics stop the bleeding and then some, winning both Game 4 and Game 5. The series stays interesting as they head back into Miami | Game 6 Tomorrow @8:30pm ET on TNT

NHL PLAYOFFS

  • Florida Panthers vs Carolina Hurricanes: I’m almost getting sick of saying Matthew Tkachuck’s name but I AM NOT. The man won’t stop scoring game-winning goals and scored another on Wednesday night to complete the sweep of the Canes. They head back to the NHL Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1996.

  • Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars: The Knights win game 3 on Tuesday that took a 3-0 series lead, but the Stars finally win one in over time and force a game 5 back in Vegas | Game 5 tomorrow @ 8pm ET on ESPN

GOLF

  • I sincerely apologize for any part of last week’s newsletter that made Michael Block look cool. Turns out he thinks if he had Rory McIlroy’s length off the tee, he’d be the best golfer in the world. I guess that top 15 finish and the $288k in your bank account can get to your head quickly. He’s dead last at +11 heading into Friday, tough.

  • Catch the rest of the world’s best golfers this weekend at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas | ESPN/ESPN+

OTHER NEWS & UPDATES

  • Hall-of-Fame Cleveland Browns’ running back and one of the best athletes of all time, Jim Brown, has passed away at age 87

Authors note: Apologies for the briefness in today’s newsletter. I am still trying to work through the best cadence and amount the information to provide to my loyal readers. I will continue to get better.

Peace,
